In the first-ever Southwest Lifestyle Vehicle of the Year awards, the 2019 Kia Forte set a high bar when it was rated as having the “Best Value” in the car category. According to Becky Antioco, event director and founder of Southwest Lifestyle Media, “It really is a ‘Best Value’ in every sense and it exceeded our journalists’ expectations in almost every category.” She praised the new Kia Forte for having “…tech and safety features that you’d expect in a car costing thousands more.”

Those advanced safety features include standard Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) and Forward Collision Warning (FCW). FCW provides audio and visual alerts when it senses a road hazard up ahead, and FCA can step in and apply the brakes in certain situations to help avoid a collision. Available Smart Cruise Control (SCC) also works to keep the road ahead clear by slowing down or accelerating as needed to help maintain your desired speed while keeping to a predetermined following distance between your car and the car ahead.

On the highway, standard Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and available Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) help the 2019 Kia Forte act as your capable co-pilot. LDW monitors your position and provides an audible alert if you begin to drift outside of detected lane markers. LKA is on hand to apply corrective steering if it senses that you’re drifting into another lane unintentionally. The available Lane Change Assist is another great feature. When you signal that you’re planning to change lanes, it will provide an audible alert if it senses a vehicle coming from behind. The Blind Spot Collision Warning (BCW) system, standard on the EX model, does the same if it senses a vehicle in your blind spot.
